Anffas onlus has welcomed with great interest the proposal
by the Social Action Department of RAI to work on a guide
based on issues relevant to people with mental handicaps,
aimed at information operators and everyone who is interested
in knowing and learning about the development of concepts
and policies on this subject. The guide does not intend,
nor will it be exhaustive, but is proposed as a dynamic tool,
therefore subject to integration and updates and which will
act as a contribution to promoting the culture of social
inclusion of disabled people.

The current guide is created according to thematic programs
which take Anffas specifications into consideration.
Key words have been highlighted within these programs which are subsequently
listed in a glossary.
The layout of the work is in two integrated sections. The first section is
made up of the following five thematic programs:
The second section forms a glossary of key words on mental retardation which can be accessed directly or through the thematic programs by clicking on the highlighted term. The choice of terms is divided by three criteria:
1 - their history, amenability to the cultural, social and civil development of the perception of diversity
2 - their classification referring to three macro-areas, social-cultural, medical-scientific and judicial-administrative
3 - their application in language and general communication
The items will be presented in alphabetical order and include
a brief explanation.
Some of these, the subject of studies and/or comments, are discussed extensively
by referring to a link or specific window.
