Marco Luchetta international journalism award

For the ten year anniversary of the death of Mario Luchetta, Alessandro Ota and Dario D'Angelo, killed by a grenade while they were preparing a program on children who were victims of the Balkan war and the death of cameraman Miran Hrovatin, assassinated in Mogadishu together with journalist Ilaria Alpi, the "Luchetta, Ota, D'Angelo and Hrovatin Foundation for child victims of war" has instituted a journalism award in their memory.

This is the first year of the award, it is aimed at honouring the style and way of carrying out this profession with the ideals of the four reporters who inspired the creation of the foundation which bears their name: the values of solidarity among peoples, the respect for ethnic and political diversity, peaceful cohabitation and the solution to conflicts through dialogue, and above all awareness campaigns for children to protect the children who are victims of every form of violence. The goals and aims of the award are united with the spirit which has animated the first ten years of the Foundation's activity which has welcomed and treated tens of children and their parents from war zones.
