Marco Luchetta international journalism award
For the ten year anniversary of the death of Mario Luchetta, Alessandro Ota
and Dario D'Angelo, killed by a grenade while they were preparing a program
on children who were victims of the Balkan war and the death of cameraman Miran
Hrovatin, assassinated in Mogadishu together with journalist Ilaria Alpi, the "Luchetta,
Ota, D'Angelo and Hrovatin Foundation for child victims of war" has instituted
a journalism award in their memory.
This is the first year of the award, it is aimed at honouring the style and
way of carrying out this profession with the ideals of the four reporters who
inspired the creation of the foundation which bears their name: the values
of solidarity among peoples, the respect for ethnic and political diversity,
peaceful cohabitation and the solution to conflicts through dialogue, and above
all awareness campaigns for children to protect the children who are victims
of every form of violence. The goals and aims of the award are united with
the spirit which has animated the first ten years of the Foundation's activity
which has welcomed and treated tens of children and their parents from war
zones.
The jury of the award entitled Marco Luchetta, presided
over by Angela Bottiglione. is also composed of Sergio
Baraldi, director of "Il Messaggero Veneto", Bojan
Brezigar, director of "Primorski Dnevnik", Sergio
Canciani, head of Rai's office in Moscow, Antonio Di Bella,
director Tg3 Rai, Mauro Mazza, director Tg2 Rai, Clemente
J. Mimun, director Tg1 Rai, Fulvio Molinari, editorialist
and Secretary of the Jury, Alberto Statera, director of "Il
Piccolo".
The jury identifies and selects the journalism award winners, for an amount
of 6 thousand euro each, subdivided into four categories:

National journalism award for professional journalists,
of the press and television
- ALESSANDRO OTA Prize
National journalism prize for the best pictures for cameramen
- DARIO D'ANGELO Prize
Journalism prize for a non-Italian European journalist
- MIRAN HROVATIN Prize
International journalism prize for press photographers for the best photograph
