THE SANDRO CIOTTI AWARD
Set up by the Culture and Solidarity Foundation and sponsored by the Town of Montalto di Castro with a contribution from Enel, the prize named after Sandro Ciotti could become an annual meeting and ritual where the positive figures in football meet to compare. The prize will be given to the most creative banner exhibited during the A and B division matches, throughout an entire season, including championship and cups.
The idea for the Award arose from a desire to give value to creative concepts expressed by football fans and to encourage the desire to form groups and to find an identity inside stadiums. For the first time in Italy recognition will be given to the synthesis of fans' imagination in communicating. Creativity, desecration, irony, sneering as well as the ability to amaze and respect the other team.
The winner will win not only money destined to finance a social project selected from among those put forward by the town they come from, but will also receive a banner shield. It is a real PVC banner, six metres by two bearing the championship tricolors to go on show throughout the entire football championship and be handed over the following year to the next winner.
The selection jury is chaired by Giulio Andreotti and includes Gianni Petrucci, Walter Veltroni, Gianni Rivera, Maurizio Costanzo, Paolo Gambescia, Salvatore Carai, Gianni Cerqueti, Giancarlo Dotto, Gianni Melidoni, Clemente Mimun, Cristiano Molitello, Sandro Piccinini, Carlo Romeo, Alfredo Cucciniello, Alessandro Vocalelli.
Those who wish to take part can send the text of their banner, specifying the date, the match and the stadium where it was exhibited, to the e-mail address firstname.lastname@example.org.
