Convention
The year 2001 has been declared The International Year of Volunteers (IYV) by the General Assembly of the United Nations with the following aims:
1. The recognition of the role of volunteers, even relating to the progress made in developing countries.
2. The support to the volunteers through their education and the attainment of a legal status for them
3. The setting up of Internet connections for the different organizations on a local, national and international level.
4. The promotion and the development of voluntary service.
Several groups of volunteers are presently operating inside the “Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore"/The Holy Heart Catholic University; this convention aims at drawing attention to their presence, promoting their development and coordinating their activities.

3.00 p.m. Prof. Luigi Ortona, Pro-rector of the UCSC is chairing
- Opening of the proceedings: Prof. Catananti, Health Manager of the Policlinico Universitario “A.Gemelli".
- Mrs. Olimpia Tarzia, mp, President of the Family Affairs and Equal Opportunities Committee of the Regional Council of the Regione Lazio; Voluntary services and the institutions.
